5 ways to stay hydrated every day

5 ways to stay hydrated every day

Water makes up around 60% of the average adult’s body, so it’s vital to your wellbeing that you stay well hydrated.

Experts recommend that you should drink six to eight glasses of water a day, approximately two litres, but as we all know, that’s sometimes easier said than done.

If, for whatever reason, you’re struggling to hit your target intake, you’ll want to keep reading. Our tips will sort you out.

Carry a reusable water bottle

One of the easiest ways to stay hydrated throughout your day is to carry a reusable water bottle with you, thereby ensuring you always have easy access to H2O.

A reusable bottle is particularly useful in the summer months, especially if you’re commuting on public transport, and acts as a visual reminder to drink more when it’s on your desk at work. Your investment will pay for itself in the long-term and you’ll be helping to cut down on single use plastic too!

Set reminders

When you’re living life in the fast lane with meetings every day, events in the evening and no time to think in between, it’s easy to neglect your wellbeing. In those instances, even though it may sound drastic, you might want to consider setting regular reminders on your phone to nudge you to take a breather and a sip of water.

Avoid things that dehydrate you

Staying hydrated isn’t all about how much you put in, it’s also about what you put in. It’s normal for you to get a little dehydrated throughout the day simply from moving around, a bit like wear and tear, but there are some things that can dehydrate you…really fast.

Three of the main culprits of fast dehydration are salty foods, caffeinated drinks and alcohol. Have you ever noticed that after eating a bag of crisps you feel really thirsty? What about going to the toilet a lot after a big cup of tea or coffee? And we all know what a hangover feels like. All of these are signs of dehydration caused by these foods and drinks.

We’re not saying you can never have another cup of coffee or another cocktail but you should always remember, everything in moderation and don’t forget to drink water in between to help counteract the effects.

Drink more things that really hydrate you

Just like some things can leave you feeling really thirsty, there are some drinks that hydrate more than others.

Coconut water is a popular example of this. It contains lots of the minerals you need to stay hydrated, such as potassium, chloride and sodium and it’s all natural. Fruit smoothies are another great way to get all the vitamins and minerals that keep you hydrated.

One downside of both of these is that both fruit and coconut water contain quite a bit of sugar and acid which can be bad for you and for your teeth.

O.R.S Hydration Tablets

So if you want to avoid all that sugar, if you don’t have time to blend up a smoothie but you still want to be hydrated, what do you do? Simple. Just drop a couple of O.R.S tablets in a pint of water, wait for it to dissolve and drink up for fast and effective hydration!

ORS contains all the salts and minerals you need to stay hydrated and it comes in an easy, portable tube so that you can achieve fast hydration wherever you go.
